Transplant surgery has the ability to transplant hair exactly as it grows in nature, creating totally natural new hair growth that is undetectable, even under close examination.

No other facial feature influences your appearance so much as the presence of a ‘normal’ hairline, and up to 80% of men and around 35% of women will experience social and psychological distress due to hair loss sometime in their lives.

Aesthetics of Essex offers a sensitive, definitive consultation process and a wide range of medical and surgical options for dealing with the problem, including hair transplant surgery.

All hair transplants and minor operations (such as Laser Liposuction) will be performed at the Westlands Medical Centre, Hornchurch, Essex

Hair Loss in Men and Women

While many men may accept their hair loss, known as ‘male pattern baldness‘ with varying degrees of resignation, many others simply adopt the alternative of shaving the head, even though they might feel it does not really suit them. Given the vital importance attached to a man’s personal appearance in today’s social and professional situations, a number of balding men are now seeking help by considering natural-looking hair transplants. Additionally women suffering from ‘pattern hair loss’ or premature balding are being deeply affected emotionally and in self-confidence. Female hair loss can also be difficult to conceal and result in the use of unnatural-looking hair extensions or costly regular hairdressing. At Aesthetics of Essex we have helped many men and women regain a full head of hair and also enjoy thicker hair where thinning has occurred through state-of-the-art FUE and FUT hair replacement procedure methods.

We offer a number of successful medical and surgical options for dealing with hair loss and male or female pattern baldness. Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), both available here at the clinic, are skilled, safe, and highly successful procedures for regaining natural lost hair in both men and women

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) – The Procedure

A very small amount of hair is removed from the natural donor area, from groupings called follicular units. Under microscopic magnification, grafts are created that keep these natural groupings intact. The grafts are then placed in tiny micro incisions in the bald area, created in a pattern and distribution that mimic nature.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) – The Procedure

Donor tissue is removed from a broad area of the back of the scalp. A circular incision is made in the skin around the upper part of the follicle which is then extracted (pulled) directly from the scalp leaving a small open hole. The advantage of FUE is that it leaves no linear scar.

Treatment is available to men and women of all ages from 20 years up to and including the late 60s to 70s.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does hair transplantation work?
Hair transplantation is about relocating the bald resistant hair follicles from the back of the head to the balding areas on the top of the head. This process works for a lifetime because the hair follicles taken from the back of the head are genetically resistant to baldness, regardless of where they are relocated to.

Will the procedure hurt?
We can provide patients with a local anaesthesia. Most patients find that once the anesthesia is given that they feel no pain or discomfort during the surgery. Following surgery patients will typically feel some amount of soreness and numbness, with some mild discomfort. Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how minimal the discomfort from the surgical procedure is.

What is the recovery/healing time?
The incisions made in the scalp are very small, which results in more rapid healing. Most patients feel fine within a day or two following surgery, although some numbness and mild soreness can be expected for several days following surgery.
