About Neck Lifts:
The neck is one of the first places where signs of age start to show; skin begins to lose elasticity and may lose definition to the jaw line, resulting in vertical bands, wrinkles and sagging. There are many factors that contribute to this such as sun damage, extreme weight loss, genetics and the natural aging process.
If you are unhappy with the appearance of skin around your neck and jaw line, cosmetic neck lift surgery could be the answer.
The most common concerns that are addressed with a neck lift are:
- Turkey wattle neck (loose, slack neck skin)
- Sun or wind damaged neck skin
- Excess fat under the jaw
- Excess skin or sagging
A neck lift is one of the most transformative procedures in cosmetic surgery and can be combined with a face lift to achieve maximum results. Benefits include; unnoticeable scar placement, fast recovery period with little downtime (1 – 3 weeks), a slimmer appearance to the face, and most importantly enhanced confidence!
The procedure involves incisions to tighten and lift the problem area through removal of excess skin, fat deposits – which can also be removed with liposuction – and possible alteration of neck muscles.
This type of surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and will require downtime during the healing period – you may be asked to stay one night in hospital so that we can monitor your progress. You will also be given a compression band to wear to reduce swelling, bruising and visible scarring. Avoid any strenuous physical activity during the recovery process for a minimum of three weeks to give your body time to heal. The majority of our patients are able to return to work a week or two weeks after surgery.
Results depend on the elasticity of your skin, however in most cases this procedure reveals a more defined, lifted and youthful appearance to the neck and jaw areas. Sometimes the results are not always immediate, however will continue to become visible and improve over a series of weeks. Full recovery can take up to six months.
